  1. An advocate is someone who sees injustice and doesn’t ignore it. Instead, the advocate takes action. Anyone can become an activist and changemaker in the world. You don’t need to be delivering speeches or leading protests. Your presence and action, however small, makes an impact, even if you’re not at the forefront of the movement.
  2. Participate however you can. You can support a cause in many ways, not just by donating money. You can volunteer time, lend office space and equipment to volunteers, write articles or analyze data for the organization, etc. Whatever resource or skill you have, you can likely find a way to utilize it towards contributing and making an impact. Malala originally thought that she had to grow old first in order to be able to create change, but later she realized you can do it at any age.
  3. Be optimistic and hopeful no matter what. Start with clearly identifying your values. Your values should be your guiding forces, where you would look to when you are lost. For Malala, her values are speaking up and taking action for those who struggle to, being truthful and open, and being a good listener. Creating change takes time.
